Overview > FAQs > The Waterfront
Are there any restrictions regarding boating at Park West?
Yes. Park West has no public boat ramps, but dock corridors are in place on most waterfront lots. Boating restrictions are as required by law for freshwater streams.
Although Park West is surrounded by five-and-a-half miles of waterfront - the Wando River, Darrell Creek and Toomer Creek - which allow for easy access for boating by Park West property owners with deepwater access, there is no Park West access for boating for other property owners. However, water sports of virtually any type and beautiful beaches are just a few minutes from Park West.
Can I build a dock?
Yes, as long as a dock corridor is in place for your lot, which is the case on most Park West waterfront lots. You must obtain a dock permit, however, from the regulatory authorities. For the latest information on building a dock refer to the following DHEC website:

What river borders Park West?
Only minutes from the ocean, Park West is bounded by five-and-a-half miles of riverfront and deep-water tidal creeks. The Wando River, along with Darrell and Toomer Creeks wind around Park West.
